Hello!
So today is Monday and since we finished with the slides for Idit's presentation, we had nothing assigned to us...yet. Shannon told Aixsha and I that we should talk to Rebecca so she can show us what she wants us to fill out in the spreadsheet she is using for research. I begin to work on Clay County and I quickly realize that this is going to be harder than I thought considering that a) the middle school and the high school used the same wiki, and b) there are a lot of users to go through making it really hard to finish in just one day. Aixsha managed to finish before we left the office but I still have a long way to go before I can finish. I'm working on this right now and I think that I will still not be able to finish by tomorrow.
Right before we left the office, Shannon explained to us the invoice before, as you may be aware, it is the end of the month and we need to get paid. I spent about 5 minutes filling out my info and my hours so at least I got that out of the way. I'm going to continue working for another half hour in hopes that I get far enough into the spreadsheet.
Until Next Time,

Thursday
Hello!
Aixsha and I underestimated how long it was going to take us to do the slides. We are staying a little later than our normal time because Idit needs these slides by tomorrow and sadly we still have quite a long way to go. The good news is that we have done 7 and the bad news is that we still need 4 more. Well that last bit is not terrible news but still I am a little antsy that we have so much to finish in less than 3 hours tomorrow. I'll let you know how we did tomorrow!

Wednesday!
hello!
So I continued to work on the presentation. Today I managed to do GlobalSchoolnet and James Puglia's Digital Storytelling. I started the Collins Career Center one but that's not done. Since there is still a lot of work left, I am going to definitely be working at home. After spending about three hours only only two and a half slides I have gained so much more respect for these presentations. Who would have thought that they take so long to do!! And the worst part is that we have like no time left. I think it's only tomorrow. We have to speed through this.

Tuesday
Hey there!
I know yesterday I promised myself that I was going to finish the report. Well I have to disappoint you and say that it is not done. What happened was that I was working on the report. I was really confident that I was going to finish. At 5:20 a new (and definitely more exciting) project was handed to us. Shannon asked us to make slides for Idit's presentation next week. The other interns (Jadry, Emily, Rebecca and Leslie) are working on the rest of the presentation but Aixsha and I are just supposed to make the slides that talk about what other people, companies and organizations similar to WWW are doing and their progress. So far we only made one but hopefully tomorrow Aixsha and I will be halfway because everything is needed by Friday.

Second Monday!!
Hey there!
So today I came to work determined to finish the report of Clay County HS. I put on my headphones and began typing away. I started writing the polished report and kept writing and looking back at the Wiki to remember why I wrote what I wrote on my notes. Unfortunately, the internet went down for a good half hour. Luckily I had most of my notes on a word document so I kept on working on it. I was so focused on the report that I did not notice it was 730pm! So I was not able to finish today. But tomorrow I will definitely without a doubt finish once and for all!

day 5
Hey!
So I came in today and saw that Leslie and Noa were back from New Orleans and we talked a bit about their experience. Then they showed us the video about their trip that they have been working on today. As soon as Aixsha and I got settled, I immediately started working because I was hoping to finish today but that did not work out because I still have not finished. I had underestimated how hard this particular project was going to be. I now have a new found appreciation for any type of research; those people have patience like no other. So I plan to finish this by Monday since tomorrow I will not be in the office and instead in this seminar for this program I am involved with called Prep for Prep. Although I will not be here, I wish I could be because I dread going to these required seminars. But what can I do, I made a commitment.

day 4
Hey there!
So I can't believe that this week is almost over. Anyway today, like yesterday, is a little uneventful because I am working on looking through Clay County HS. The cool thing that happens while reviewing is that I get to play the games. Some of them are actually quite fun. For instance, I did an undersea puzzle and since I love puzzles, I really enjoyed it. I am genuinely impressed at the skill. Hopefully, (fingers crossed) I will finish this by Monday so that Aixsha and I can start a video project which will definitely rest my eyes a bit (reading on a computer is hard!). At least I am enjoying myself

Day 3
Hello!
So today I continued looking at Clay County High School. Right now I am looking through each individual user's page and making notes on how it is set up and if it seemed like they put much time and effort into it and what they write on it besides the required questions. So not much happening right now...

Day 2
Hey there!
So today was my second day in the office but actually my first day working the LaTe ShIfT!!! I seriously had no idea what to expect, how tired I was going to be or what. But overall this day went really well.
I entered the office at 3:45 after my first day of camp. Camp was chaotic so I was looking forward to the peace and quiet of office life. I walked in and Shannon was in the other room brainstorming and doing her own thing. While she finished up, I talked to Jadry and Rebecca who have been busy creating the Globaloria Facebook group and Shannon's first account (isn't that exciting!?) After friending Shannon and reading up on the group, I was going to continue making my profile page a little more colorful because right now it's really basic and I want to play around with fonts and sizes and even more colors. Just as I was about to start, Shannon walks over and assigns me my first project (Yay!).
As you may (or may not know, depending on who you are), World Wide Workshop started projects in West Virginian schools that teach students how to create their own games. The first year has finally finished so now everyone wants to know the results. From what it seems, everyone seems to have a good sense of what the big picture is already but they want details on each school. I was assigned to Clay Country High School, which I was warned is going to be tricky since they did something unconventional and had two different groups, or teams, share one wiki page.
So I spent the next three hours looking through the wiki page. Around 5pm I was the only intern left in the office but the work kept me too busy to register that fact. I looked through and made notes on the home page and several links on the home page including the games posted. When my computer kindly told me it was 7pm (I have it set so it speaks on the hour) I was looking through the list of Users and making notes on them. I packed up my things and bid Itay goodbye.
I think that although when I got home I collapsed in bed, I enjoyed my work and really find it unbelievable that someone like me, with no experience in this field of work, could be trusted to make observations and notes on the major projects. Like Leslie said in orientation, this is like no other internship. Even as young as we are, we do important work and help out to the best of my abilities. I can’t wait for tomorrow because Aixsha will be there, which is good because now I can be given group projects even though we work the late shift.

First Day!!!
Hello!!
So today was the first day working with World Wide Workshop. In the morning, I seriously had NO idea what to expect. I got to 110 Greene 15 minutes early (didn't know how long it was going to take to set aside to much time) and waited as Idit and Shannon walked in with a box of delicious pastries (yuuuummmmm!). After everyone walked in (late because of course the trains were messed up which is nothing strange). We spent quite some time introducing ourselves and explaining why we were interested in WWW and what we've done with computers. A common thread between all of us (young and old, newbies and veterans) is Idit's energy and enthusiasm when she gives presentations.
Our conversation led to Facebook and MySpace, which we were reluctant to talk about at first, probably because we didn't see a connection or maybe because we cannot image someone not in high school or college with one of these.
After all this information thrown at us at what seems high speeds, we did some mindless work and help the move from the old office to the new. Then came the moment we were all waiting for: playing with the XO computers!! We played around with the network and tried to chat with the other XO computers. At first there were three or four robin computers so the room was filled with "Who's Red Robin?" Thankfully Itay (sorry if I spelled it wrong) came to our rescue and taught us how to change the names so finally instead of talking to Red, Green, Blue, Red & Blue Robin, I was talking to Jadry, Leslie, Rebecca and Emily. After unsuccessfully trying to save a city in SimCity and after failing miserably at the slider puzzle, it finally came time for lunch.
The hardest part of the whole day came after lunch. This part has proved to be so difficult that at 11:25pm I am still trying to figure it out. As interns at WWW, we have to create a Wiki so that we can edit, monitor and stay in touch with the rest of the team. After getting the basics done, I was trying to make mine stand out by adding a background image. First I tried using previous knowledge but that proved to be useless since Wiki uses CSS instead of HTML, which is what I know. Then I tried googling "How to put background image on Wiki page" but nothing I copied and pasted worked!! Finally I became so frustrated that I asked my friend Aixsha for help. Right now as I write, she is trying to figure out the million dollar question. But there is still no success.
Since I am leading a double life (camp counselor by day and WWW intern by late afternoon) the next time I will be back in the office will be Monday.
